Whew! We made it to Friday, my friends! Are you as happy as I am?
Anyway, before the weekend officially begins, as promised in THIS post, here’s my Furry Friday. If you scroll through authors Facebook or Twitter pages, you’ll often find pictures of their pets. I often wondered why this was, but I understand it now. Since April, I’ve been working from home a lot more, and get have got to spend more time with the first love of my life, my cat.
Shortly after moving out of my parent’s house, I was just a single girl who was was a little lonely, and decided to get a cat. After seeing the fancy feast commercials, I knew I wanted a Persian. After all, the single girl fed her cat out of a glass mug, and then proceeded to sit across from him and eat her meal. What wasn’t glamorous about that? Fourteen years ago, when my mom brought him home to me, instead of jumping up and down that I had my own cat, I grimaced. His scrunched up face and coloring certainly didn’t match the “perfect” image in my mind, or match the fancy feast commercial. That night when I got in bed, he jumped up on my bed, I cuddled him, and we’ve been best friends ever since. He’s been there for me during happy, sad, and lonely times, and I fall in love with him more each day. Though, he’s getting older and has had a few kidney issues where we have had to give him an IV for hydration (he’s now on an Pedialyte, and doesn’t mind the flavored ones either), he’s still helpful when I’m working.
There’s a line in the song “Someone To Watch Over Me” that reminds me of him:
Although I may not be the man
Some girls think of as handsome
But to her heart
I carry the key
Have a great weekend!
